To remove advertisement from skype follow these steps:
Goto Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Security -> Restricted Sites -> Sites -> add g.msn.com and apps.skype.com
now you will see ads are blocked but their placeholders are still there, follow these steps to remove that as well.
Open skype configuration file:
C:\users\youruser\AppData\Roaming\Skype\yourskypeuser\config.xml
Find and remove the line < AdvertPlaceholder > 1 </AdvertPlaceholder>
